Naruto smiled at Gaara as he walked away form the Sand Village. I'm gonna miss him
Gaara stared at him with unflinching eyes. Things were just going to be the same now that Naruto was leaving. The town still wouldn't accept him, they would still call him a monster even though it was removed.
Naruto waved and began walking backward, nearly tripping over dunes of sand and Sakura. Yeah, he was going to miss him alright. Sakura glared at him, waved a fist and yelled, "Baka!"
Naruto grinned cheekily and ran away . . still going backwards. Gaara watched him still, gaze unwavering wanting to ensure that Naruto wouldn't get hurt while he was still in sight. Soon only their silhouettes were seen, including Naruto's barely visible yet still waving hand.
Gaara stared long after everyone else had left to go on about their day. The sun was now setting and Team 7 were but specks joining others in the sand. Gaara continued to watch.
The moon rose and Gaara had not moved, he could still sense them. It was a full moon tonight and it glared like the sun; a chill crept up Gaara's neck and his nose began to run. It was now getting cold. Gaara would still not move.
No one had checked to see if he would come back in . . or if he already had. Kankuro was out on a mission with Temari so . . . . nothing really mattered anymore. No one was there.
Their sense diappeared and Gaara's eyes widened slightly; then they closed completely. Silent tears ran down his cheeks and plopped soundlessly to be greedilly swallowed by the parched desert sand.
Alone again Tears continued to fall as he sat down in the sand, the only comfort he had left, "I had nearly forgotten, . . what is was like. . . "
He moved into a foetal position. His sobs carried through the village and desert, silent moans of lonely pain could be heard now and then.
Gaara touched the kanji on his forehead and whispered in self-loathing, "Why do I have this for?"
It began to hail . . a rare occurance in the desert. He stared at nothing as they hit him and he felt them take on their liquid form. Gaara stared on, undaunted by the fact that he was now drenched.
A puddle of tears and water formed infront of him. Gaara drifted . .mind leaving his body for a few mere moments.
"Have I cried enough tears to fill a lake?
Have I cried so much I didn't notice i wasn't awake?
Have I cried? Have I cried?
I have cried? I have cried?
Wipe those tears wipe thoses eyes
Its not time to cry, it's not time to cry."
A voice carried accross the desert and through the hail . . . Gaara mind was pulled into his body, his raccoon eyes wide. A figure was closing in on him. He knew this voice.
"Tears they fall they can't seem to stop
Just like hail that melts in-to raindrops
Have you cried? Have you cried?
You have cried. You have cried."
There was no music, yet the melody of the tune was so mellow and sad, Gaara understood, he didn't understand what it was he understood, but he elt it in his entire being form the bottom on his heart.
"Can you just smile?
Even if only for a little while?
Can you smile? Can you smile?
And make it permanent not only for a while."
Gaara stood up as arms embraced him. He continued to cry. The blonde whiskered teen boy whsispered into the wind, barely audible; snagged away by the incoming hails torm winds., "Smile for me."
Gaara looked at Naruto for what seemed like an eternity, his head titled slighty; water drops pooling over his face and his red hair covering that kanji on his forehead.
He didn't answer and just smiled dimples appearing on his face, turning him into a completely different person. Naruto smiled back and pushed Gaara's hair away form the kanji.
He stared into Gaara's pupil-less eyes and asked as he kissed the kanji, "You know why you have this?"
Gaara stopped smiling and frowned; years of horrible memories coming flodding back. Gaara made a move to turn away, but Naruto caught his drench sleeve and spun him back.
Naruto answered his own question, "It was so I could find you. So I could find someone who I could love."
Gaara's eyes widened and he nearly swept Naruto over with a fierce hug and whispered into Naruto's ear, "I'm never going to let you wave to me again."
Naruto frowned unsure what Gaara was meaning. Gaara continued, "You are not leaving me ever."
Naruto laughed and yelled over the hail storm, "Believe it."

A Better Reason to Smile -SxN-
Another year, another birthday. Birthdays weren't Naruto's favorite to celebrate. Sure extra ramen on the tenth of October every year was something to look forward to, but that was about it. Everyone else was celebrating the day for a different reason. Well Sasuke was finally back in Konoha this year. That was a plus. Maybe he could get another spar from the boy.
With that hope Naruto set off to the nearest training grounds. They were usually deserted on this day and Naruto had used that to his advantage many times in the past. Sasuke might show up or he might not; if not Naruto could just train for a while.
Hours later the sun was pr

How troublesome. A supposedly sleeping Shikamaru mumbled as he lay in the bending grass of his favorite field, the clouds swam lazily through the light blue sky, puffy cotton balls in pools of blue.
Even though his eyes were closed, his chest moving up and down in an even movement, so that everything would point to him being asleep, HE was still talking to him, endlessly.
And so I was like, You bastard! You know? Because he just came over to me and insulted me, without me even doing anything to him! So I punched him. And then Sakura hit me! Saying that I shouldnt be mean to her little Sasuke-kun! Even though she so s

Always
Naruto gently rocked back and forth, soothing the crying form folded up in his arms. He never expected to be in this kind of position, trying to consol the tattered soul of his greatest friend and comrade, the one who was most like himself. He nuzzled his face into the soft, short hair and muttered comforting nothings.
Slowly, the crying slowed into broken breaths. The hands that had left bruises on Naruto's back now relaxed and curled into a more comfortable position at Naruto's waist. A shuddering sigh, and all was silent.
"See?" Naruto whispered into the shell-pink ear. "They were there for you, just like you are for them..." There was
